Mixing and Heating : Gum base sweeteners and flavorings are mixed and heated to reach the consistency of bread dough.
Once the mass is ready, it will be squeezed into ropes with the actual width of a piece of bubble gum.
During the extrusion process the mixture heats up, so it has to be cooled down in order not to stick to the wrapper.
Two options for cutting and wrapping are commonly used: Cut & Wrap: As the gum stream enters the machine it will be cut into bite-sized pieces, wrapped, then both wrapping ends are twisted closed. Stick Pack: individual pieces are collected as sticks.
